Prize money of the Giro d'Italia 2020, by ranking
In 2020, the prize money for the winner of the Giro d'Italia amounted to 265,668 euros. Moreover, the second and third places' prizes were worth 133,412 euros and 68,801 euros, respectively. The Giro d'Italia is a renowned bicycle race organized in Italy since 1909. Together with the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, it is part of the so-called Grand Tours, ones of the most important cycling races worldwide. Originally, the race started and finished in Milan, while for the last fifty years the starting and finishing stages have changed annually. Occasionally, the Giro starts and passes through international countries too. In 2020, the Giro was supposed to start in Budapest on May 9. However, due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the race has been postponed to October 3, 2020, and it will eventually start in Sicily.
