As of the survey period, the longest route related to the 100th edition of the cycling race, held in 2017. On that occasion, the cyclists run a total of 3,615.4 kilometers. The Giro d'Italia is a renowned bicycle race organized in Italy since 1909. Together with the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, it is part of the so-called Grand Tours, ones of the most important cycling races worldwide. Originally, the race started and finished in Milan, while for the last fifty years the starting and finishing stages have changed annually. Occasionally, the Giro starts and passes through international countries too. The 103rd edition of the Giro was supposed to start in Budapest on May 9. However, due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the race has been postponed to October 2020, and it will eventually start in Sicily.
