Percentage change in film & TV piracy during the coronavirus lockdown in Italy 2020
At the beginning of March 2020, the Italian government imposed a national lockdown in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. A research conducted in March 2020 shows that, during the lockdown, Italy recorded a sharp increase in film and TV piracy. Data related to the last week of March 2020 reveal that film piracy rose by 66 percent compared to the last week of February 2020. Similarly, TV piracy grew by 41 percent compared to the week prior to the national lockdown.
