Number of Indian seafarers employed 2010-2021
In 2021, more than 205 thousand Indian seafarers were employed on domestic or foreign vessels. It was a decrease in comparison with 2019. During the presented period, a general increase can be observed, some of the reasons attributed for this increase were improved maritime training standards, increased on-board training opportunity, and improved examination as well as certification system.
