In a survey conducted by Local Circles in January 2021, around 36 percent of the participants in India considered reducing WhatsApp usage drastically by either switching to alternative applications or by using other services such as e-mail or SMS. On the contrary, 15 percent of the respondents intended to move away from the app completely.
