Italy's food supplements industry growth vs total national economy 2008-2018
The Italian economy took a hard hit from the 2008 economic crisis, which significantly slowed down the country's growth. This statistic compares the growth rate of the national economy between 2008 and 2018 to the growth rate of one of its few successful sectors, that of food supplements, according to various performance indicators. The supplements industry outperformed the Italian economy in all criteria. In particular, while general consumption in the country slightly decreased over the 10 years under consideration, the consumption of food supplements saw an impressive increase of 126 percent, reaching a value of 3.3 billion euros.
