Japan: share of adults taking classes by gender and age group 2021

According to a survey conducted in January 2021, Japanese male adults aged 20 to 39 years were more likely to participate in private lessons than women. At the same time, among the age group over 40, more women than men were taking classes during the surveyed period. Approximately 25 percent of female respondents aged 70 and over were currently learning something.
