Share of deaths in Africa 2020, by age group
Between 2015 and 2020, the majority of the deaths in Africa concerned people aged 15 to 64 years, representing 38 percent of the total deaths. Children aged four years and younger registered on average 28 percent of the continent's deaths. Despite a decline in child mortality in Africa in recent years, the rate remained high in 2020, at 71 deaths per thousand live births.
