Inhabited area as a percentage of total area of Egypt 2020, by governorate
As of July 1, the share of the total Egyptian land inhabited was roughly 6.8 percent. Five governorates were completely inhabited, namely, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Ismailia, Kafr El Sheikh, and Sharkia. Moreover, Port-Said and Menoufia governorates followed with 98.2 percent and 97.5 percent of their total area being inhabited. Cairo Governorate, on the other hand, was dominantly unpopulated with only 6.2 percent on its total area being inhabited.
