As of January 2023, the base rate of South Korea's central bank was 3.5 percent. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bank of Korea had lowered the base rate to a record low after cutting it from 1.25 percent to 0.5 percent in May 2020. The rate has risen since then.
