Transaction cut on e-commerce platforms of Alibaba and JD.com 2015-2019
As of 2019, e-commerce giant Alibaba took a cut of 4.3 percent from retail transactions on its platform in China, whereas JD.com charged at a much higher rate of seven percent. During the observed period, both companies followed a pronounced upward monetization trajectory.
