Ways children fact-check social media news United Kingdom (UK) 2022, by age group
A 2022 survey on news consumption among children in the United Kingdom found that 42 percent of children aged 12 to 15 years said that in order to fact-check news on social media sites or apps, they would look at the comments or find out what people had said about the story. Participants aged 15 years were the most likely to say that they would check if the news came from a person that they trusted or that they would check the professionality of the news. whereas younger respondents were more concerned about finding out if the news story had been written by an organisation they trusted of if it appears elsewhere.
