Share of people who have a social media account in Czechia 2015-2022

The popularity of social media in Czechia is continuously growing. The number of users quickly rose to 3.78 billion people in 2021, constituting over 56 percent of all internet users. For most of them, social media is an effective way to communicate with relatives, friends, and colleagues. In recent years, more and more companies and brands are using social media platforms to promote their products and keep in touch with their customers.

Czechs on internet

Czechs are no exception in terms of the use of internet and social media. In 2021, approximately 83 percent of the population in Czechia had internet access, and 67.5 percent of them were registered on at least one social media platform. In addition to surfing social networks, Czechs use the internet for many other purposes, such as reading online news sites, sending and receiving e-mails, as well as online banking.

Facebook’s dominance?

With an average 58.77 percent market share in July 2022, Facebook dominates social media in Czechia over other social media. However, in terms of the number of users, Facebook has slightly fewer users than YouTube. In 2021, internet users aged 25-34 used Facebook more than those between 13 and 24 years. Younger users preferred Instagram and others.
