Final energy consumption in residential buildings in Germany 2020, by end use
Heating and hot water systems amounted to over 84 percent of the final energy consumption in private households in Germany in 2020. Process heating and cooling refers to the energy consumption by machines or home appliances that require a specific temperature in order to function properly. These two segments made up around 10 percent of the energy use. The greenhouse gas emissions by residential buildings are three times as high as those by commercial buildings.
