Local print newspapers closed and launched in the United Kingdom (UK) 2012-2022
Between September 2020 and July 2022, some 33 printed local newspapers closed in the United Kingdom, and since 27 new titles were launched, the net loss of titles amounted to six in that time period. More printed local news publications are closed than launched each year, but 2017 was a particularly difficult year with 40 closures and just ten launches, leaving the net loss of titles at 30 in that 12 month period.
