Total planted area of tobacco estates in Indonesia 2019-2021
In 2021, the total planted area of tobacco estates in Indonesia was around 200 thousand hectares. Indonesia has one of the highest smoking rates in the world and is one of the biggest producers of tobacco worldwide. The tobacco industry is one of Indonesia's largest contributors to employment, economic growth, and tax revenue collection. More than 90 percent of Indonesian tobacco was produced by smallholder estates.
