In 2022, the average cost of a 30-day addiction treatment rehabilitation program in Brazil amounted to nearly 1.8 thousand U.S. dollars or about 60 U.S. dollars per day. In comparison, one-hour therapy session, and a day of mental health hospitalization, had an average cost of approximately 53 U.S. dollars and 17 U.S. dollars, respectively. That year, it was estimated that medicine for PTSD was 100 percent more expensive than the global average in the South American country.
