Changes in electricity production worldwide H1 2022-H1 2023, by source
Between January and June 2023, wind electricity experienced the largest increase, with a 109 terawatt-hours increase compared to the value in the first half of 2022. Solar power followed closely with an increase of 104 terawatt-hours. By comparison, hydropower suffered a considerable decreased by 177 terawatt-hours. The European Union electricity production moved away from coal sources and moved towards wind energy, which had an increase of over 50 terawatt-hours that year.
