Non-dairy sales of yellow spread accounted for around 35 percent of total retail sales of yellow spreads in Australia as of 2023, slowly eating away at the dairy sales share of butter and butter-blends. In comparison, in the milk, cheese, and yoghurt segments, non-dairy sales represented shares of less than 10 percent, with dairy milk, cheese, and yoghurt sales vastly outperforming their plant-based counterparts.
