Based on monthly data for total and segment revenues of the video game industry in the country, it can be seen that every year the market experiences a low in the summer months and then is revived during the holiday season, with total retail sales surpassing the billion dollar mark. It was calculated that the majority of revenues on the U.S. games market in 2016 were generated by digital PC and console games, while the second highest share belonged to mobile games. Physical games were believed to have brought in 22 percent of gaming revenues in the country that year.
