Crude oil exports from Venezuela 2021, by region of destination
In 2021, Asia was the main region of destination for Venezuelan crude oil exports, with an average of 418 thousand barrels per day. This represented over 90 percent of the South American country's oil exports that year. Meanwhile, exports to Latin America amounted to less than 30 thousand barrels per day. The United States was once amongst the leading destinations for Venezuelan oil, but exports dropped drastically following sanctions imposed by the U.S. government in 2018.
