Recently, the chain reached headlines when they refused to open on Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Company spokesperson stated that their employees deserved the opportunity to spend the holiday with their families. Some other chain stores, such as Dillard’s, followed suit rather than following the new trend of starting Black Friday (Friday after Thanksgiving) sales earlier, which many large retail chains in the United States have begun. About 37 percent of U.S. consumers said that it was very likely that they would shop on Black Friday.
