Daily rate and growth in U.S. long-term community care 2019
Community long-term care
The national daily rate of adult day health care increased by 4.17 percent from 2018 to 2019. The rate of home health aide services has increased by 4.55 percent since 2018. There are various long-term care facilities offered in the United States and these vary in terms of the types of services provided. Assisted living facilities provide full-time supervision and services that include helping with daily activities such as eating and bathing. Nursing homes provide skilled nursing services and rehabilitation as well as the daily assistance provided in assisted living facilities.
The median cost of assisted living facilities with a single occupancy was 48,612 U.S. dollars as of 2019 and the median cost for a private room in a nursing home was 102,200 U.S. dollars. Currently, over 3 million elderly adults receive care in nursing facilities. One of the major medical issues occurring in these long-term care facilities is the risk of serious infections such as urinary tract infections and antibiotic-resistant staph infections.
