This statistic displays the alcohol consumption per capita of all beverages in the U.S. South region between 1977 and 2017. In 2017, the alcohol consumption per capita in the South was 2.25 gallons of ethanol (pure alcohol). The Health People program initiated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services established a nation-wide objective of no more than 2.1 gallons of alcohol per capita.
