About This Statistic
This statistic shows a market share comparison of the two most popular smartphone operating systems in Germany, Google Android and Apple iOS, from January 2012 to February 2017, based on sales. As of February 2017, Google's Android showed a market share of 76.3 percent, while Apple's iOS had a market share of 20.2 percent. Generally, Android's market share among mobile operating systems in Germany has been on the rise, peaking in 2014 at almost 70 percent. While the market share remained at this level in the following years, so far until 2017, it is still far ahead of iOS and other mobile operating systems. Monitoring user choices of either Android or iOS will continue to be a point of focus, as the number of smartphone users in Germany has been increasing steadily during the last decade, amounting to 49 million users in April 2016. The same can be said of the smartphone sales volume in Germany, which was forecasted to amount to 27.9 million devices sold in 2016.
