EU: Main exporting countries of semi-finished steel products from 2010-2017 This statistic illustrates the export volume of semi-finished and finished steel products exported by the main exporting countries in the European Union (EU) from 2010 to 2017, in thousand metric tons. Semi-finished steel products are mainly used in industry for the further production of finished steel products. They are produced through continuous casting of liquid steel or by rolling or forging of steel ingots. Germany has been by far the leading European exporter of these goods, with the peak year recorded in 2011 at nearly 26.3 million metric tons. In 2017, Germany had a decrease of 14 thousand metric tons of these goods compared to the peak year.
