Exclusive Premium Statistic

Number of mortgages sold in the Netherlands 2007-2017 This statistic shows the number of mortgages sold in the Netherlands from 2007 to 2017 (in thousands). In recent years, the housing market has continued to rise in the Netherlands due the asset purchase programme (APP) of the European Central Bank and the, consequently, low mortgage rates. For example, the number of registered transactions reached a value of approximately 215,000 in 2016. In 2017, approximately 353,000 mortgages were sold.
The value of mortgages in 2018 is forecasted to increase with approximately four percent compared to 2017. Between 2006 and 2016, the total mortgage debt from households in the Netherlands increased from approximately 548 billion euros in 2006 to approximately 664 billion euros in 2016. In the third quarter of 2017, the market share of mortgage turnover in the Netherlands reached approximately 55 percent for the three banks ABN Amro, Rabobank and ING.
