The statistic displays the number of suicides related to problems at work committed by women in Japan in 2018, broken down by age group. In the measured period, 80 women between the ages of 20 and 29 years committed suicide due to problems related to their working situation in Japan. The total number of female suicide victims, whose main suicide reason were work problems, amounted to 253 in 2018.

Occupational sudden mortality, known as karoshi ("death by overwork") is a well-known phenomenon in Japanese society. Besides physical pressure, mental stress from the workplace can cause karoshi. Suicide due to occupational stress or overwork is called karojisatsu ("overwork suicide") in Japan.
