The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic changed significantly how households in the United Kingdom spent on leisure and cultural activities. While the weekly average expenditure on package holidays abroad, restaurants, and café meals dropped sharply in 2021 over the previous financial year, spending on TV, cable subscriptions, and similar products slightly increased. Overall, takeaways recorded the highest figure between April 2020 and March 2021, with an average weekly expenditure of 5.3 British pounds.
