Value of investments in start-ups in Europe 2015-2017 This statistic shows the total value of investments in start-ups in Europe from the first half of 2015 to the first half of 2017 (in million euros). A start-up is usually defined as a starting (group of) entrepreneur(s), but there are many different definitions of what makes a start-up a start-up. In most of these, the similarities include the age of the entrepreneur or company, the number of employees, the growth potential and level of innovation. In the first half of 2017, the total value of investments reached approximately 7.6 billion euros, the highest value reached since 2015. Total investments into Fintech companies in Europe, however, decreased in 2016.
