During most of the period under study, Spain saw continued growth in the volume of domestic e-commerce transactions, reaching nearly 80 million in the last quarter of 2019. However, the following six months saw a sharp decline due to the coronavirus pandemic that hit the country. Between April and June 2020, e-commerce transactions within Spain stood at around 65.5 billion, more than 14 million below the amount recorded at the end of 2019. In the third quarter of 2020, the trend changed again, rising to a record 87.5 million transactions.
