Most downloaded shopping apps in Spain 2022

In 2022, SHEIN was the most popular shopping app among Spanish consumers, boasting approximately 6.35 million downloads. That year, the number of app downloads for the Chinese fast-fashion company exceeded those of the U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon, with a notable difference of approximately two million additional downloads.

International impact

Three of the five most downloaded shopping apps in Spain in 2022 were from international retailers, including those mentioned above. However, two of them also stood out for their web version. As of 2023, Amazon and AliExpress were the most visited e-commerce websites in the European country. Large global companies like these typically stand out for their competitive prices, easy handling, and compelling delivery options. These are some of the main reasons for the high online shopping satisfaction among Spanish shoppers, which helps explain the overall success of international players in the market.

Marketplace popularity

Online marketplaces aim to connect buyers and sellers in a way that offers a convenient shopping experience, a feature strongly valued by e-shoppers. According to a survey on the frequency of purchasing on online marketplaces in Spain, almost half of e-commerce users shopped on them at least once a month in 2023. Meanwhile, over the same period, four online marketplaces recorded ten or more purchases per year by the average Spanish online shopper.
