Import volume of LNG in Italy 2017-2021 by country of origin

Qatar was the major supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Italy in 2021, with almost five million tons of imports. A much smaller share of LNG came from Algeria and the United States (U.S.). For spot and short-term natural gas imports to Italy, the leading suppliers were U.S., Egypt, and Algeria.
Algeria was also the leading natural gas supplier to Italy in 2022, followed by Russia.
