This statistic shows the particulate matter (PM2.5) emissions emitted by international shipping in European sea regions, from 2005 to 2050. The total PM.25 emissions emitted in European seas reached 193.9 thousand metric tons. Emissions were highest in the Mediterranean sea. By 2020, this is expected to decline, but by 2050 PM2.5 emissions are expected to return to similar levels to 2005.
