Greenhouse gas emissions per capita in the European Union 1990-2021
Per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the European Union (EU-27) increased by roughly five percent in 2021 to some 7.77 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. Nevertheless, per capita GHG emissions in the EU-27 have fallen almost 33 percent since 1990. Luxembourg continued to have the highest per capita emissions in the EU in 2021, at 14.7 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent.
