Share of food expenditure in the UK 2000-2017, by at-home and out-of-home consumption This statistic illustrates the share of household food and drink expenditure in the United Kingdom (UK) by at-home and out-of-home consumption between 2000 to 2017. Household spending on food and drink purchased for consumption at home outweighed spending on eating out in restaurants and other food service venues: 56 percent of total food and drink spending was for consumption at-home compared to 44 percent of spending going on eating and drinking out in restaurants.
