The National Rifle Association (NRA) is probably one of the most prolific and influential lobbying groups in the United States in convincing lawmakers of the benefits of liberal gun
laws. Data collected by the Center for Responsive Politics
shows that even with self-professed pro-gun rights President Donald Trump in office, the NRA has spent liberally on lobbying its cause. While in 2016 the association spent $3.19 million, expenditure rose to $5.08 million last year, slightly lower than the record $5.12 million in 2017.
