The Biggest Challenges For Latin American Immigrants in the U.S.
U.S. Politics
Illegal immigration into the United States across its southern border has been dominating the news recently. The treatment and conditions awaiting those who attempt to enter the country without the correct paperwork are far from attractive, but what about the situation for people from Latin America that are living in the U.S. legally - what challenges do they face?
A recent survey by Ipsos/GenPop has revealed that the most commonly cited 'biggest challenge' (31 percent) is the problem posed by cultural barriers (e.g. language and education). Almost a quarter of respondents said that regulations such as obtaining a green card or avoiding deportation were the biggest challenges.
