American universities are becoming increasingly wealthy. According to a report from Moody's Investors Service, the top 10 private schools in the United States hold one third of total wealth (out of 500 universities analyzed). The gap between those 10 schools and the rest of the pack is widening fast, with leading schools attracting streams of donations and investments. The top three names on the list come as little surprise. Harvard is in first place with nearly $43 billion, followed by Stanford and Yale with $31.6 and $25.4 billion respectively.
