Women around the world are more likely than men to worry about their financial future. This is according to a Statista Consumer Insights survey carried out between July 2025 and June 2026. As women in many countries continue to be less financially independent than men, face more hurdles in the workplace and more often shoulder unpaid domestic tasks like child or elder care, finances are an important topic governing female self-determination, wealth, success and even safety.
In most of the countries included in the survey were at least slightly more worried than their male counterparts about their financial future. The biggest gap opened in Finland with 56 percent of women but only 40 percent of males worried about their financial prospects. Countries like France and the UK also saw significant differences in financial concerns, while India, China and Mexico were notable exceptions where financial worries were roughly the same for women and men. Another observation from the survey is the fact that women often feel less well informed about their personal financial situation than males, which can further fuel financial future worries.
