According to a U.S. State Department report published earlier this week, there were 11,774 terrorist attacks
worldwide in 2015, with 28,328 fatalities. Iraq
experienced the most attacks last year, amid its struggle against the so-called Islamic State. There were 2,418 incidents in Iraq with nearly 7,000 fatalities. The report found that Iran
remains the primary state sponsor of terrorism, providing a range of support, including financial, training, and equipment, to groups around the world.
