Brazil: number of wildfires by state from January to July 2020

Mato Grosso was the Brazilian state with the highest number of wildfire outbreaks from January 1st to July 26th of 2020. During that period, nearly 8,700 thousand wildfires were recorded in that state. Mato Grosso is followed by the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, with roughly four thousand wildfires, and Tocantins, with over three thousand. More than 70 thousand wildfire outbreaks were observed all over Brazil in that same period.
