
Amazon deforested area share in Brazil 1988-2021, by state
Between 1988 and 2021, the deforested area of the Brazilian Amazon surpassed 470 thousand square kilometers, of which around 35 percent occurred in the state of Pará. Mato Grosso had the second highest share of deforestation, at almost 32 percent. It was trailed by Rondônia, with roughly 14 percent.
