Brazil: deforested area in the Amazon 2018-2020, by month

Between January and October 2020, almost 7,300 square kilometers of rainforest in the Brazilian Amazon were destroyed. In August 2020, the deforestation rate reached a record 1,499 square kilometers, the largest forest area destroyed in the indicated period. Most of the deforested area in the Brazilian Amazon occurrs in private land areas.
