Brazil: deforested area in the Amazon 2018-2019, by month

Between January and June of 2019, more than 2,000 square kilometers of rainforest in the Brazilian Amazon were destroyed. The highest deforestation rates were reported in May and June of 2019, when around 800 square kilometers of rainforest were deforested in each month. Most of the deforested area in the Brazilian Amazon occurred in private land areas.
