Microsoft is still a dominant player on the server market within the multinational segment. Windows Server 2008 had the biggest share in 2017, with a total market share of roughly 40 percent, closely followed by Windows Server 2012 that was used by 27 percent of the companies. Linux made up for roughly ten percent of the total market, which includes all of the variations that Linux comes in.
