Microsoft is still a dominant player on the server market within the national enterprise segment. Windows Server 2008 had the biggest share in 2017, with a total market share of roughly 37 percent, closely followed by Windows Server 2012 that was used by 36.2 percent of the companies. Linux made up for ten percent of the total market, which includes all of the variations that Linux comes in.
