As of August 24, 2020, Enrico Dalla Valle was the male tennis player in Italy registering the highest ITF score. According to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking, he scored an overall of 702 points, ranking 23rd in the ITF world ranking. Moreover, Fabrizio Ornago followed in the list, with a total of 584 ranking points. Ornago ranked 50th in the ITF world ranking as of the survey period.

Regarding the ranking system, the source specifies: "The official ITF Seniors World Rankings are calculated on a 52-week rollover system and are published weekly throughout the year. This will include rankings for Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.[...] Each ranking takes into account only points earned in the preceding 12 months from the ranking date. At any given time, however, only the latest Young Seniors,Seniors and Super-Seniors World Championships count for ranking purposes.

To receive ranking points in a singles, doubles or mixed doubles tournament, a player must reach a round where points are available. The number of points available varies depending upon the grading of the tournament and the round reached".
