Monthly international air passenger traffic in Argentina 2019-2021
In April 2020, the international air passenger traffic from and to Argentina amounted to 12 thousand passengers. This represents a decrease of around 99 percent in comparison with the air passenger traffic reported during the same month a year earlier. This abrupt decrease in international passenger air traffic is due to restrictions imposed by the Argentine government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in its territory. The travel restrictions for foreign visitors in Argentina started on March 16 2020, three days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. The international air passenger traffic in Argentina had a light recovery by the end of 2020 and in the first half of 2021, but it is still significantly low in comparison to pre-pandemic figures.
