Brazil: projected electricity demand growth 2020, by scenario
In an optimistic scenario, the electricity demand in Brazil is expected to decrease by 1.6 percent in 2020, when compared to the previous year. The reduction in demand is expected to be as low as 14 percent, in the case of a catastrophic scenario. The reviewed projections are accredited to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes the COVID-19. Before the outbreak, electricity demand in the South American country was forecasted to increase by 4.2 percent when compared to 2019.
