Compared to other Northern European countries, sustainability played a big role in purchasing decisions in the Netherlands.
As of 2020, 79 percent of the consumers in the Netherlands indicated that they consider sustainability in their purchasing decisions and consumer behavior. This was a slight increase compared to 2019, but still a lower figure than in 2017, when 81 percent took sustainability into account.
